Setting up a daily automatic activation schedule of Transmission in Synology DiskStation NAS DSM (tutorial, guide, instructions)

This guide allows Synology community package Transmission users to keep it running only during specific periods (like at daytime, in order to reduce disk noise when people are sleeping).

Go to the DSM control panel's Task Scheduler:

 Create > Scheduled Task > Service

• Name the task something like "Stop Transmission for the night", for instance
• Mark it active (by default)

 In the second tab's second section, pick the time you want the service to be stopped. For instance, midnight.

In the third tab, tick the chosen service (Transmission) and apply with 'OK'.

Now, repeat all these steps to create the second task that will make the server (re)start the service.
